ABOUT THE NBDAA

The New Brunswick Dental Assistants' Association (NBDAA) is the provincial body of dental assistants recognized by the New Brunswick Dental Society (NBDS). The NBDAA consists of five affiliate associations:

Each affiliate has a delegate that sits on the provincial board and attends provincial meetings to keep the affiliate informed on provincial business.

Meet the team

Heather Melvin, CDA

Heather is originally from Petitcodiac. Over the years, she has worked with several dentists — including Dorchester Penitentiary, with the emergency dentist — giving her the unique experience of seeing patients in a hospital setting. Heather also taught at Oulton College for many years before taking on the role of Executive Director in 2021.

She loves to travel with her husband, and when they’re home, they enjoy the outdoors, either in their side-by-side ATV or walking their dog.

Q:  What talent would you like to learn?

A:  I love to sing (others don’t like it when I do) I would love to be able to sing around a camp fire while someone plays the guitar.

In 2019, she moved to the Fredericton area and has been working in the same office since moving east. She was also the Canadian Dental Assistants Association  (CDAA) Representative in 2022.

She lives in Oromocto with her husband and 4 guinea pigs, and passively volunteers with a guinea pig rescue outside of Moncton. She is also a gamer, a bit of a nerd and is open about being an adult with lay diagnosis of being on the autism spectrum.

Q: If you could jump into a pool or anything, what would it be?

A: Assuming I cannot get injured or drown, a pool full of Coca-Cola while wearing a bathing suit made of Mentos mints. Because chaos.
